After the abrupt end to the team’s journey in the Piala Merdeka 2008, we have decided to let the team break off for a while. The team will regroup again for training in September while we prepare for the next tournament.

Myself, together with a few other guys in the football fratenity have come up with an idea for a Dayak Cup to be particpated by associations. This will be again on an invitational basis as well. More on this and when it will be played will be announced once we have something concrete. Till then it’s just an idea. Will keep you updated on this.

We lost whilst keeping our heads up high. A game which saw Richard and Castrea scored 2 goals but we lost in the end. We must score at least 5 goals to qualify to the next round in Piala Merdeka. But luck would have it we lost and we are out of the tournament. It’s time to go back to the drawing board and see what needs to be improved.

MPP Selection did well and they deserved to win. They were a better side till the end. We were just not good enough. We will improve as time goes by.

I was unable to update our last game’s results due to the fact that I was away and had no internet connection. We lost our last game played on the 17th August to Uitm 3 -1. Today we meet MPP Selection. We hope for a win which will clear our way for the next round. A loss or a draw will end our journey in the Piala Merdeka 2008.

Decrease in fuel prices
I am happy to note that the government has reduced the prices of fuel. Ok, to me should have not increased it in the first place. It only increases the inflation rate to a new record high.

Our 1st game in the Piala Malaysia Merdeka against JPA ( Jabatan Pertahanan Awam) was a nail biting one and a draw was what we actually hoped for. Knowing the strength of JPA we were happy for the draw. We fielded new faces in the 1st 11 most of whom are still under 20. They performed exceptionally well.

We scored 1st in the 2nd half through Davie Linyaw. JPA equalised 10 minutes later through a beautiful header.

The final score was 1 - 1.

Our next game will be this Sunday 17th August against UiTM.

Other results

Finexsys 6 - 0 Lundu FA

ICATS 6 - 0 Telekom Malaysia

We received 2 sets of jerseys from our new sponsor today. Together with the jerseys were a set of shorts and socks. The managing director of Neka Technology, En. Nelson Dandy was on hand to pass the sponsored items to me in a simple ceremony at our training ground. The arrival of the jerseys were timely as we will play our first game in the Piala Merdeka this Sunday. Our heartfelt thanks and appriciation to Neka Technology.

On a different note, we have the final list of players. All together we have 20 players from an allowed 25, a mix of young and not so young. We have 5 under 19 State players with us this time around.

Here is SADIA FC’s match fixture for the Piala Merdeka Tournament

It was a pleasant surprise when SADIA FC was awarded the Anugerah Fairplay in the just concluded MPP Invitational League. I collected the award on behalf of the team. Besides the Anugerah I also collected prize money for forth placing.

(Datuk Riot, Cr. Edward Kurik (Organising Chairman) and myself receiving the Fairplay Award and also the prize money.}

Member of Parliament for Serian, YB Datuk Richard Riot was the guest of honor. Datuk and I actually go a long way to when I was still in my early 20s.

In the final, Sadir FC beat Sejijak FC 3 - 0 to hold the Champion’s trophy onces again this year. Datuk Riot’s son Mac incidently plays for Sadir FC. It was a one sided game seeing Sadir FC controling most of the game. They deserved to be Champions.

(Sadir FC receiving their Champion’s Trophy from Datuk Richard Riot.)

Thanks to Cr. Edward Kurik for inviting the team to play in this year’s event. We look forward to next year. It was well organised tournament. Kudos to Cr. Edward and his committee members for a job well done.

Early goals by Paul Pungga and Richard Gangga wasn’t enough to maintain our lead in the 3rd and 4th placing match at the MPP Invitational League played at MPP Sports Complex, Siburan. Second half equaliser by Batu Kawah FC saw both teams battle it out for the penalty shootout. We lost on penalties.

The second half was dampened by heavy rain making the field muddy and soaked. Our game planned were destroyed because of this as there were no more flow in the passing and attack. This was where our opponents really took advantage of the field. Striking 2 goals in under 10 minutes. We welcomed back our 1st choice goalie Trovalta Canny who was out due to injury but was later replaced by 3rd choice Patrik Agi in the 75th minute.

The final whistle score was 2 - 2 and we played extra time which still drew a blank. It finally came down to penalty shootouts where 3 of our kickers either missed their mark or their balls were saved by the goalie.

It was our 1st tournament since the formation of the team and it was on a whole a commendable result. We could have done better though had it not been for injuries and work commitments for some of our players.

We are looking forward to our next tournament where we will be sending a bigger squad this time around.

My assistant and I went for the manager’s meeting at the FAS office at the Stadium Sarawak yesterday afternoon. All but 2 team managers couldn’t make it for the meeting. Among discussed in the meeting were the rules of the competition, code of conduct, security and the awards ceremony.
